“Juneteenth” and Slavery in the 21st Century

It’s “Juneteenth” (whatever the hell that is), and we have been ordered to think about slavery. OK, here are some thoughts on slavery.

In the American South, many of the slaves didn’t mind being slaves. It was all they knew, and they valued familiarity and comfort more than liberty. Even after emancipation, many stayed on with their former owners.

In the dawning Communist America of 2023, many Americans don’t mind the prospect of slavery living under a regime that tells them what to believe, how to think, what to buy and how to act. Just so they’re comfortable. Aren’t they going to be surprised!
