MSN gushes as it posts the following story:
Don McLean is pulling out of his upcoming performance at the National Rifle Association convention, citing Tuesday’s shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas that left 19 children and two teachers dead.
The “American Pie” singer-songwriter released a statement saying it would be “hurtful and “disrespectful” for him to perform at the NRA conference in Houston, which will be a meeting of gun rights advocates from across the country.
“In light of the recent events in Texas, I have decided it would be disrespectful and hurtful for me to perform for the NRA at their convention in Houston this week,” McLean said in a statement to USA TODAY Thursday. “I’m sure all the folks planning to attend this event are shocked and sickened by these events as well. After all, we are all Americans.”
First of all, what does attending a convention supporting the individual, Constitutional right of ALL law-abiding Americans to own a gun have to do with the tragedy in Texas? The tragedy in Texas raises questions about the ability or willingness of government officials to keep their schools safe. These tragedies NEVER happen in private schools. Yet they happen in government-run schools ALL the time. Nobody is talking about it.
If McLean was morally against the NRA’s mission in the first place, why did he agree to do the concert? And if he didn’t have a moral problem with the NRA before, why would he now? Is the NRA advocating that people take their guns and shoot up schools?
It’s preposterous. But it’s the era we live in. Everything is morally and logically inverted. Republicans are caving everywhere and now (according to NEWSMAX) promising to help Democrats enact “red flag” laws. Red flag laws will be WORSE than gun control. Red flag laws will empower the scum in charge of our government to arbitrarily declare who IS and who is NOT sane; and then eradicate their Constitutional rights based on politically determined definitions of insanity.
Remember: The vast majority of mental health professionals are hard core Democrats. (I have been a mental health professional for 34 years, and I know this for a fact.) The federal government will NOT be hiring Republican or independent psychiatrists, psychologists or social workers/counselors to do their evaluations. If you think red flag laws will be based on “objective” standards of mental health (something the mental health profession has not yet established), then you probably still believe COVID was just about health.
It just keeps getting worse and worse. The government fully expects compliance with whatever they come up with; because, as COVID taught them, they will get compliance whenever it’s claimed to be for a good cause.
