OK, here are the facts:
A man shot at several dozen Republican members of Congress during a baseball practice Wednesday morning in Alexandria, Virginia.
- Rep. Steve Scalise (R-AL) was shot in the hip but is now stable and undergoing surgery for his wound.
- Because Scalise is House Majority Whip, Capitol Hill Police officers were already present and engaged the gunman for several minutes.
- The suspect is now in custody — not dead, as early reports claimed.
- At least four individuals total were shot by the assailant: Scalise, two police officers, and a congressional staffer.
- Wounded staffer works for Rep. Roger Williams (R-TX). An early report incorrectly said that Williams himself was shot.
- Rep. Mark Walker (R-NC) told a reporter the shooter “was there to kill as many Republican members as possible.”.

The man who opened fire on Republican members of Congress at a baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia is a supporter of Bernie Sanders and various liberal causes, according to his Facebook profile.
The Washington Post reported that the shooter has been identified as James T. Hodgkinson, a 66-year-old home inspector from Belleville, Ill.
It looks like we’ve got a new breed of home grown terrorism. It’s supposed to be people who support limited government, private enterprise and the Second Amendment. It’s a stereotype and almost never true, but it’s the way the establishment media presents it.
Now, we’ve got a different kind of terrorist: The left-wing progressive. The kind who wants to shoot Republicans.
It makes sense, if you think about it. No, most people who disagree with Republicans do not wish to shoot them. Or, if they do, they don’t actually put their desire into practice. But this man evidently did. It’s easy to say he’s imbalanced and insane, as well as evil, and he undoubtedly is. But isn’t his mindset, if not his tactics, pretty much the same as everyone else who opposes Trump, Republicans or anything else not progressive these days?
Democrats and progressives are out of intellectual ammunition. They have no case to make for unlimited taxation, unlimited government growth, unlimited debt, unlimited government power, unlimited handouts that make people afraid to work (for fear of losing the handouts), and all the rest. Whenever a person or movement runs out of intellectual ammunition, it eventually resorts, by default, to the only kind left: literal ammunition.
I can already hear the gloating. “You Republicans got what you deserved. You don’t want to outlaw guns, so this is what you get.” After all, criminals and psychopaths don’t ever get their hands on guns if the government outlaws them, right? You’re going to hear this, if you haven’t heard it already. And think about what the gloating implies: That if you dare to disagree with a left-wing Democrat progressive about anything, you deserve to die. They won’t admit it, but that’s what they’re implying. Just remember that.
The terrorist analogy is more literal than you think. Consider the similarities between left-wing progressive home grown terrorists and Islamic ones. Each side refuses to tolerate dissension. Each side accepts its positions as a matter of faith, and resorts to intimidation (psychological or physical) when confronted with any opposing view. Islam justifies it through its Koran. Today’s Democrats and progressives justify it by saying, “In my universe, Donald Trump cannot be president. This will not be allowed to stand”. Not everyone with this premise becomes violent. That’s not what I’m saying. But I am saying that once you go down the road of intolerant, belligerent, dogmatic, undemocratic and the anti-liberty mindset of totalitarianism, you’re ultimately left with nothing except the gun.
