It’s an interesting meme to unpack. For years, I have been told by Democrats/leftists that anyone who voted for Trump is by definition a totalitarian monster, and therefore they cannot associate with anyone who supports a monster. Actually, I respect the principle being upheld here, even if the anti-Trumper (1) has the facts wrong, in that Trump is lowering taxes, cutting government, upholding the right to own guns, demanding freedom of speech for everyone — all things that totalitarians simply never do; and (2) is ignoring the facts of the people they (the Democrats) support such as increasing taxes, regulating absolutely everything (except weed, Islam and abortion), invoking censorship and imposing medical requirements (experimental vaxes, masks) never seen before in America.
So leftists, I am with you in principle. Let’s not associate in any way if you’re really in favor of the Communism-plus-Sharia Law your party’s standard bearers — Mamdani, AOC, the Minnesota mafia, etc. — now cheer for and vote in favor of on a daily basis.
When you vote for people who rule on the premise that 70 or even 90 percent of what I own and earn belongs to the government (including noncitizens), then you have unforgivably assaulted my sensibilities and declared war on my individual human rights. When you triple down by accepting “democratic socialism” and rationalize that 51 percent of the population can vote away my money, my freedom of speech, or anything you consider virtuous, we are done. When you attack freedom, you’re messing with my liberty, my happiness and my life. I value those things far more than I ever could value an association with people who endorse living under an all-powerful government with arbitrary, one-sided powers and administered by a Uniparty.
Freedom and tyranny are irreconcilable. So are we.
