The media is lying that the Trump “Big Beautiful Bill” cuts Medicaid. False. The bill cuts out known fraud, not Medicaid spending itself. But Medicaid is Obamacare. Back in 2010, Obamacare became law. It made Medicaid more available to most of the population. Obamacare (the expansion of Medicaid) basically competed socialized medicine for America. No Republican voted for it. For every election after that, Republicans ran on promising to end Obamacare. In 2017, they had their chance. The Republican Senate prevented it, largely because of the crucial vote of Senator John McCain (who had also run for Senate and for President promising to repeal Obamacare). McCain changed his mind on repealing Obamacare because he didn’t want to hand Trump a victory. Ever since, Republicans have increased spending for, and expanded, Medicaid.
Republican voters have every right to expect Republicans in office to end Obamacare and Medicaid. Republicans should be voting for measures to enable a free market in medicine to develop. As for charity, nothing in America’s present system prevents people from either giving to or receiving from voluntary, charitable contributions. Very few would require such contributions if government got out of health care and opened up a free market for medicine.
All Republicans know this. But they evade and act against this information. Every single time. Don’t blame this on Trump. He probably wouldn’t repeal Medicaid, but he would certainly repeal Obamacare if Congress let him. Republicans in Congress will not let him. It’s not even a broken promise anymore. Democrats are willfully stupid, incredibly ignorant and at times unspeakably evil; Republicans are simply cowards. It’s hard to decide which is worse.
If America goes down, it will be due to the Republicans who failed to act.
