It took the government under 24 hours to make this holiday a law, and to shut down all federal and most state offices. If it’s that easy to establish yet another government holiday, why is it so hard to get a letter mailed; an immigration visa processed; a war executed; or an election legally and accurately counted?
Silver lining: Before long, every single day will be a federal and state holiday. That means the government will be shut down every day, and can no longer inflict nearly the damage on us it presently does.
