Going Back to America’s Roots in Crazy Times

After 40 years, it seemed like a good time for me to reread Laura Ingalls Wilder’s “Little House on the Prairie” series. (No relation to the tv show.) These classics bring to life something about the original, brave and individualistic spirit of America so badly needed right now. These pioneers battled not just diseases, but hostile Indians, bears, panthers, crop killers, blizzards, coyotes, and cramped living conditions. Yet they somehow managed to survive and be happy, even without a monthly $1000 check from the government. I am loving them more than the first time.
