Sam Donaldson’s Incoherent Audacity in Endorsing Mike Bloomberg

Retired journalist Sam Donaldson is all in for Mike Bloomberg.

Leftists are so transparent — and it’s because they only talk to each other. It’s truer of journalists than anyone else. In his endorsement, Donaldson waxed faux philosophical about his longing for the old days, “the shining city on the hill” that Ronald Reagan used to talk about. It’s laughable.

Those of us who remember the 1980s associate watching the evening news with President Reagan shouting over the helicopter noise to answer Donaldson’s inane, harassing questions. Donaldson deliberately picked that time to make Reagan look less presidential. In hindsight, it was the foreshadowing of what was to come decades later in a far nastier era, where journalists now openly lie to bring down a President.

THAT’S what Donaldson yearns for. Not the good old days of Ronald Reagan, a tax-cutting and regulation-eschewing conservative just as much as Donald Trump today. Donaldson wants to go back to the days when conservatives didn’t challenge journalistic Stalinist/Marxist orthodoxy and their fascist ways. Reagan was able to get past all that because of his legendary charm and the fact that the 1980s (although we thought they were cynical at the time) was a much tamer period, compared to the nastiness of the Hard Left Establishment today.

Donaldson had the incoherent audacity to proclaim that Bloomberg will not be “beholden” to anyone. President Trump will recognize that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Bloomberg not beholden? Oh, sure! Not to anybody except the hacks who keep the money flowing through the Democratic Party and into their pocketbooks. As Ayn Rand called it, the aristocracy of pull.

Not to mention that Bloomberg will be controlling our eating habits and disarming our ability to fight back against a tyrannical government, should it ever come to that. Of course Donaldson likes Bloomberg the fascist. It keeps him comfortable in his D.C. Swamp mentality. Donaldson serves as a now ancient reminder that the antipathy against all things non-leftist did NOT begin in the era of Trump.
