Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas said “the modern-day liberal” has proven to be a bigger “impediment” than those he was initially wary of — people like the “bigot in the pickup truck” or “Klansmen” — as part of remarks made in the upcoming documentary Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words.
“I felt as though in my life I had been looking at the wrong people as the people who would be problematic toward me. We were told that, ‘Oh, it’s gonna be the bigot in the pickup truck; it’s gonna be the Klansmen; it’s gonna be the rural sheriff,’” Thomas said, according to ABC News.
“But it turned out that through all of that, ultimately the biggest impediment was the modern-day liberal,” he continued…
Insightful point. Justice Thomas is correct. The anti-black racist bigot in the pickup truck was destructive and irrational, to be sure. But his power was limited. And today, his influence has waned to almost nothing. That bigot would not recognize today’s American South. Reason and justice triumphed over that form of intolerance.
But the modern day leftist is not just potentially destructive to an entire race (as bad as that is). The modern day leftist has its firepower aimed at ALL of humanity. Leftist guns are aimed at liberty and freedom. At rationality. At genuine common sense.
Everything that serves life is opposed by the modern-day leftist. Fossil fuels and other forms of energy? They’ll be gone in 10 years, if leftists have their way. Except for our rulers, we will be reduced to the living standards of a primitive jungle once gas and electricity are essentially outlawed by the Democratic Party’s “Green New Deal”. Capitalism? Forget it. We will have centralized government control of all human activity. Sanders and Warren are just getting started with health care and college.
The Bill of Rights? Absolutely not. Free speech is what leftists say it is. If leftists deem you NOT free to challenge climate change propaganda, Islam or transgenderism — well then, it’s hate speech. And hate speech is out. Second Amendment? Don’t even think about arming yourself. That privilege belongs SOLELY to the government — and only to a left-wing government.
Intellectual tolerance on college campuses? You’ve got to be kidding. Leftists have already — without laws, just yet — created a doublespeak and intolerance not envisioned even by George Orwell’s 1984. Leftists are no longer “liberals”. They are modern-day fascists — with Communist economic policies, to boot.
Martin Luther King and others overcame the brutality and irrationality of the Klansmen and the Jim Crow tyrants. Today’s leftists are after the enslavement of ANYONE who does not see their way. They’re far more dangerous and far more destructive than anything Clarence Thomas faced from the bigots in the pickup trucks back in the day.
