Nancy Pelosi says the impeachment of President Trump (yet to proceed) is like the American Revolution. She compares herself to Thomas Paine, one of the most articulate lovers of liberty and individual rights in all of human history.
Staggering.
Think about what she’s saying. In the centuries since Thomas Paine lived, the American government has grown to become precisely what Paine and others warned against.
It took a long time. Most of it happened starting in the 20th century (Woodrow Wilson, the New Deal and the Great Society). In the last 10 or 20 years the mask has come off, and we have come to see just how truly rotten, depraved and corrupt our national government now is.
The reason the government got so corrupt is because it acquired too much power. The government spends and borrows too much because it DOES too much. If any pressure group demands something, the government buys it. And because it both spends and does too much, the federal government attracts corrupt charlatans like Nancy Pelosi. Without the power and money afforded by a government that goes way, way, way beyond the boundaries of the original Bill of Rights and Constitution, there would be no Nancy Pelosi — to now claim she’s another Thomas Paine.
Thomas Paine said things like, “Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one.” Does THIS sound like Nancy Pelosi or anyone in her party, to you? Nancy Pelosi’s party is the party of unlimited government. It’s now the party of Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and AOC. There’s literally nothing the government should not be doing, according to them: medical care, paying for your college, subsidizing your house loans, taking away your weapons, curtailing your speech when it offends politically connected groups…how on EARTH can she compare her party to Thomas Paine?
Paine also said, “A body of men holding themselves accountable to nobody ought not to be trusted by anybody.” He’s talking about Nancy Pelosi! And most of the other members of Congress — in both parties.
Paine also said, “No country can be called free which is governed by an absolute power; and it matters not whether it be an absolute royal power or an absolute legislative power, as the consequences will be the same to the people.” He’s talking about the Democratic Party. It acts like it’s the only part of the government. It acts like there was no election of 2016, where Republicans won control of every branch. It acts like there was no election of 2018 — only the part Democrats won (the House), not the part where Republicans gained (the Senate). It acts like THEY get to decide the outcome of any and all elections. And if any election goes the way THEY don’t like, they can use impeachment, arbitrary claims, outright lies or any other means necessary to undo it … because they don’t like it, and for no other reason.
And they get to call themselves Thomas Paine in the process!
It’s truly madness that Nancy Pelosi — Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, next in line to the Presidency after the Vice President — can say such things and get away with them, totally unchallenged by the media, academia, and the government-run schools most of us foolishly put in charge of “educating” young minds.
We live in infuriating times. These corrupt authoritarians have no concept of why millions of us are infuriated, nor of how infuriated we are.
Donald Trump is only the beginning.
