A glowing Washington Post profile of Ocasio-Cortez’s chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti opens with a meeting that he had with Sam Ricketts, the climate director for Gov. Jay Inslee of Washington, who launched a long-shot 2020 presidential bid centered around a sweeping climate change plan.
The article reports:
Chakrabarti had an unexpected disclosure. “The interesting thing about the Green New Deal,” he said, “is it wasn’t originally a climate thing at all.” Ricketts greeted this startling notion with an attentive poker face. “Do you guys think of it as a climate thing?” Chakrabarti continued. “Because we really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing.”
The original innovators of the “ecology movement” back in the 1960s admitted (to each other) their real agenda was to turn America Communist/collectivist. In subsequent decades, self-described environmentalists denied it.
They said all they cared about was “the environment”, not sneaking in any other economic agenda. They got most of us to recycle, banish straws, cry over spotted owls and seals, and do our due diligence in the interest of virtue-signaling to our fellow man that “I care”.
Now, in 2019, all bets are off. These Commies are the real deal. Yes, they’re stupid to the point of being hilarious, almost unbelievable caricatures. But they mean what they say. Any country that leaves them in power or office one second longer than their term requires deserves exactly what it gets.
