Dear Valerie Jarrett: Take Your “Teachable Moment” and Shove It

Dear Valerie Jarrett,

You smugly describe Roseanne Barr’s firing from ABC as a “teachable moment”.

Exactly what will it teach? And to whom?

“Education” implies free will and choice. Obama’s administration was all about coercion. Whether it was socialized medicine, opening America’s borders via executive fiat to give your party more power, seizing control of the Internet, threatening to raise taxes by executive order or threatening to imprison people who disagree with your party on climate change or Islam — it was all about coercion.

Coercion and education are opposites, Ms. Jarrett. If nothing else, you should be intelligent enough to know that.

The people you seek to educate, Ms. Jarrett, are not interested in what you have to teach. We already know what you want to teach: Intolerance of dissension, nationalization of private property, wealth redistribution, special favors to wealthy corporations who uphold your policies and punishment to those businesses who dissent. And on top of it all: Eventual abolishing of the Second Amendment and, for all practical purposes, the First Amendment as well.

You seek a world where everyone agrees with you, and those who do not — well, they must pretend to agree.

Roseanne’s joke about you misses the most serious point. You presided as one of the most sinister figures in an administration that brought the United States of America closer to a dictatorship than any other in its history.

Those of us defending Roseanne Barr are accused of changing the subject. “The real subject is racism.” No it isn’t. Leftist comedians have made far more shocking and insulting jokes than Ms. Barr did about you, and you know it. The subject being changed here is your record, and the record of the authoritarian, “softly” dictatorial regime you ran. That’s the “national conversation” you want the millions of citizens who detested your eight long years of rule never to have, and that you seek to stifle in any way you can.

The only people who care about your “teaching” methods are the ones who already buy into your toxic ideas, your double standards and your profound disrespect for the greatest achievement in human liberty thus far: America’s Constitution.

We know what you’re after, Ms. Jarrett. It’s not persuasion. If it were, you’d devote your life to explaining to people why your brand of socialism and fascism will attain the prosperity and justice that fascism, Communism and all the other “isms” — including progressivism — never have, and never will achieve.

Speak to your choir, Ms. Jarrett. Nobody else is listening.

I could not care less what your race is. It’s your ideas, your attitudes and your actions that matter to me. Yours are far, far more damaging than anything Roseanne Barr was accused of stating or implying.

You might eventually get your wish and have your ideas made the rule of law. You might eventually shut up not just Roseanne Barr, but all dissenting voices.

But you will never “educate” us. Our minds will always be our own.

You cannot touch people’s minds. Dictators like yourself never have, and never will. That’s why they always lose, in the end.
