President Trump’s Tweets About the FBI & the Decline of a Republic

President Trump put it plainly, honestly and accurately last night and this morning:

“Very sad that the FBI missed all of the many signals sent out by the Florida school shooter. This is not acceptable. They are spending too much time trying to prove Russian collusion with the Trump campaign – there is no collusion. Get back to the basics and make us all proud!”

And this:

“If it was the GOAL of Russia to create discord, disruption and chaos within the U.S. then, with all of the Committee Hearings, Investigations and Party hatred, they have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. They are laughing their a—s off in Moscow. Get smart America!”

The decline of a republic occurs when the agencies of power designed to protect the innocent from the guilty reverse themselves and now protect the guilty against the innocent. Put another way, when government stops protecting us from criminals and shifts primarily to protecting its own, we’re in a state of decline.

Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and his subordinates are plainly guilty of something. The evidence of Mueller’s investigation — an openly political witch hunt directed against President Trump — even suggests as much, which is truly incredible. Yet there’s little hope the FBI will ever investigate it seriously, much less indict or subject these powerful hacks to the same rule of law the rest of us must follow.

The U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence upon which it’s based are only as good as the willingness of the present generation of Americans to uphold them. Remarkably, for generations, these documents held up against at times impossible odds, including but not limited to the Civil War, the march of Nazi Germany and the ever-threatening Cold War.

Will the Constitution survive the willful torpidity and ignorance of at least half our population and the virulently blatant corruption of most of the people still in office? That remains to be seen.
