Newsmax.com reports: Glenn Beck says his family was accosted while watching a movie in a New York City park Monday night. On his radio show and his website today, Beck described the incident and said an angry moviegoer kicked a glass of wine onto his wife Tania’s back, and as she got up to walk away, a man shouted: ‘We hate conservatives here.’
Wait a minute. I thought liberals were against hate. I thought that most liberals even say hate should be against the law. If somebody murders
for a reason other than hate, they should be given normal charges, or even let off easy if they’re members of a group liberals like. If somebody murders because of hatred for a group of people liberals like, then the death penalty is probably too kind a sentence.
It’s interesting, when you think about crime. Most crime is driven by hatred — although not necessarily hatred for a certain oppressed minority group. Most crime is driven by hatred for the “haves” over the “have nots.” “I don’t have my fair share — give me some of yours!” is the rationalization for a lot of crime. Criminals are also driven by a desire to get one over on people. Criminals hate “the system,” they hate authority, and on the deepest metaphysical level, they simply hate objective reality. Authorities represent objective reality to them, and they hate them for it.
Crime is all about hate, though not the kind of hate typically exposed by liberal intellectuals, politicians and moral authorities.
Glenn Beck, the victim of hatred in this case, said the following: ‘Courage doesn’t come from a bag or a bottle — courage doesn’t come in mobs,’ Beck said. ‘Courage comes alone, quietly. You won’t be drunk and you won’t be in a mob at the ultimate test of courage. You will be alone.”
He went on to say: ‘It’s mob mentality. People are braver when it’s in a bag or a bottle, and when they’re in the majority. All I can think of about the people around me all night is that I feel sorry for you — I really feel sorry for you. You are so arrogant and so convinced that you are absolutely 100 percent right and you are helping build a system that is fueled by hate. I swear to you I think, if I had suggested, and I almost did, ‘Wow, does anybody have a rope? Because there’s [a] tree here. You could just lynch me.’ And I think there would have been a couple in the crowd that would have.’
Liberalism is a movement motivated by hatred. This is why liberals tend to be very mean, unsettled people — about their politics, that is. You will meet liberals who are perfectly reasonable, benevolent and productive people in many different contexts. This all changes when it comes to politics. There’s a hatred no less intense than the kind of hatred you see a Ku Klux Klansman exhibit towards blacks, or an Islamic fundamentalist against infidels. This doesn’t mean they will act on this hatred, although the liberal who attacked Glenn Beck’s wife did; but it does mean they feel morally justified in doing so. Most liberals lack the consistency to attack a prominent conservative in public; but I’m willing to bet that most of them feel like Glenn Beck, and his wife, got much less than what they deserved for daring to go out in pubic, in New York City.
Beck is also right that liberalism is representative of a mob mentality, or mob psychology. Liberalism in the modern era is, essentially, socialism. Socialism means collective ownership of the means of production. Liberals want their gangs and leaders to collectively own the means of production — health care, for example. They are particular about which gangs are to be in charge, but they do believe that groups (i.e, their groups) are what determine justice, economics and ultimately the truth.
Liberals hate people who disagree with them. They hate people who don’t hate the people and the things that they hate (mostly, capitalism). For all their talk about justice and equal rights for the oppressed, including some who have been genuinely oppressed, liberals are primarily preoccupied with hatred of “the system.” The system is never objectively defined, but you know from the reactions and policy proposals of all major liberals that they’re referring to anything or anyone productive, strong, self-confident and — perish the thought — capitalist. Look at the things Obama has attacked since coming into office, the things for which liberals cheer him on. Obama has attacked the automobile, banking and financial industries — first by subsidizing them, and then using those subsidies as an excuse to control them and make them be run as a socialist government would run them. He has literally launched a government takeover of medical care, imposing on us socialized medicine once and for all. He is now proposing hikes in taxes, and won’t consider even the usual Washington phony-baloney spending “cuts” without substantial increases in taxes.
It’s all about collective ownership of the means of production — socialist and liberal ownership, that is.
Liberals claim to be for peace, love, equality and benevolence for all. In fact, everything they propose is based on coercion, and everything they argue in favor of stems from hatred of capitalism, individualism, and — on the deepest level — man’s productive, rational, capable spirit at its best. For whatever irrational reasons, liberals — even liberals who are quite intelligent and productive themselves — just hate the things that make human beings, on rare occasion, truly great.
This is why some liberals cannot contain themselves while in the presence of someone who dares to question them, as Glenn Beck routinely does. Liberals do not like being questioned, and they are not used to being questioned, especially in a place like New York City. Yes, you can say that Glenn Beck and his wife should have known better. An outspoken opponent of liberalism walking out in public in a bastion of left-wing socialism such as New York City? Why, that’s like an attractive young woman walking down a high crime area street at 2 am on a Saturday night.
Yes, perhaps the Becks should have known better. But what does it say about liberalism that it’s not safe to publicly disagree with it, without fearing for your physical safety?
