The current U.S. President recently stated, “But I do have an unyielding belief that all people yearn for certain things: the ability to speak your mind and have a say in how you are governed; confidence in the rule of law and the equal administration of justice; government that is transparent and doesn’t steal from the people; the freedom to live as you choose.”
Is this a joke? Are we on Candid Camera? He upholds “the ability to speak your mind” while preparing to impose the “Fairness Doctrine” requiring restriction of the freedom of speech (anti-liberal speech, of course) on radio. He speaks of “confidence in the rule of law” while turning bankruptcy laws on their head in order to appease and reward auto workers’ unions. He advocates “transparent” government while brazenly claiming that rising unemployment figures prove that his policies are making the rise in unemployment less than it otherwise would be. He claims to favor government that doesn’t “steal from the people” while supporting unprecedented increases in wealth transfers from those who produce it to those who hold power in government, while nationalizing industry and initiating government-imposed health care rationing in the process. He says he wants for all humans the “freedom to live as you choose” when the only freedom left, after all is said and done, is to have an abortion and to choose your own sex partner–at least for now.
All this, in only four months.
