Keeping your word matters to others, but even more to yourself.
When you keep your word: Others will believe you; others will listen to you; others will help you in a crisis when you need their help; you can rest easy not worrying about what you said or didn’t say, and what is or isn’t true in what you said. All in all, keeping your word as a matter of habit benefits your life. Think of how you appraise others who don’t keep their word. That’s how others feel about you if you don’t keep your word. Worse still, that’s how you feel about yourself. How could you feel otherwise?
