Everyone (except President Trump) is sounding the alarm about AI being on the verge of eradicating civilization. The same people sounding the alarm seem to care nothing about mothers killing their children and being excused, or the national debt spiraling into unsustainable trillions, or Social Security collapsing in a few years, or the Iranian regime continuing to survive and threaten nuclear blackmail.
The people sounding the alarm about AI are the “never waste a good crisis” type. In order to expand the government’s power, you must exploit a crisis. First, you must create a crisis.
AI cannot kill people or destroy civilization. Only bad people can destroy civilization, bad people with toxic ideas like collectivism, socialism, Nazism, etc. “Regulation” of AI simply means giving politicians–all of whom have toxic ideas–the power to mislead and destroy people they don’t like. Freedom is always the answer. The only things that need regulation are the initiation of force and fraud.
