The biggest danger of today isn’t an explicit call for dictatorship. “Democratic socialists” deny they’re dictators, even though the ones in power have to know they are. The danger today is that all the people supporting “democratic socialists” don’t think that dictatorship (one way or another) is a problem. They believe that SO LONG AS “progressives” are in charge, everything is fine. They consider it dictatorship (and therefore bad) when someone they dislike (e.g. President Trump) is controlling everything (which he isn’t — he has mostly cut taxes and regulations). Their problem isn’t with control. Their problem is with anyone other than progressives controlling everything.
This is the faulty and distorted premise fueling their march toward dictatorship. And on our present course — President Trump and MAGA notwithstanding — we are all headed that way with them.
