President Trump on Saturday night said he agreed to halt a planned attack against Iran – after the Islamic Republic and other Middle Eastern countries agreed to the framework of a peace deal.
“The U.S.A. is locked and loaded and ready to go against the Islamic Republic of Iran, at levels of Military Terror, Strength, and Power not seen since World War II,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
The president said Iran and other governments in the region asked the US “to hold off any attack” because “the perimeters of a deal has been agreed to.”
The problem is that Iran’s regime has little to lose by waiting out the rest of Trump’s term. They keep moving the goalposts, getting us to stop the bombing, agreeing to a new deal which they promptly break. And the cycle starts over again. If they can hold out two years until Trump is succeeded by a weaker Republican or a Democrat Communist who’s actually on their side, they win. It’s hard to see this as a victory for America, as much as I support President Trump in taking on Iran. When will we finish the job and eradicate the existing Iranian regime, once and for all?
