The author’s assumption that well-funded, media-supported leftists are going all the way and Minneapolis is the “Fort Sumter” moment enjoys support from the facts. I believe he underestimates Trump’s determination to fight back, as well as the President’s remarkable strategic capabilities, but he’s absolutely right that most Republicans are weak and cannot be trusted. When the going gets tough enough, Republicans have always (and I mean always) cut and run. If the Democrats win this civil war (the author hopes he’s wrong), America will be a totalitarian nightmare for sure: a one-Party state where dissension is crushed. Really, President Trump himself is about the only firewall standing between us and a nightmare that nobody reared in relative freedom (most of us were) can begin truly to grasp. I recommend reading this article not in the spirit of gloom-and-doom, but to acknowledge what we’re really up against.

Can J.D. Vance, or anyone else, no matter how commendable, carry the torch after Trump?
