“There will be a marble bust of me in Congress,” says former VP Kamala Harris, who still fancies herself a President (along with 540 other Democrats). “I am a historic figure.”
People who have marble busts made of them after their deaths don’t think about having marble busts while they’re still alive. They’re too busy doing the things that will earn them marble busts after they die.
Kamala Harris might deserve a kind of inverted marble bust to exemplify how undeserved her rise in American society was–that of a mediocrity who rose to Vice President. But our era is so cluttered with undeserved mediocrities who rise beyond their worth that Kamala Harris hardly stands out.
