According to a Cato Institute poll, 34% of younger voters now explicitly support Communism.
They think they support Communism. But what they actually support are the fruits of capitalism with none of the costs. They want the results of unhampered free enterprise–the innovations, the diversity of choices, the lifting of the standard of living with each successive generation, something that never, ever happened in human history before capitalism. They want it all. And they want the government to order that it all be free.
It will never happen. Yet they will never learn, even if they make it into their 60s and 70s under the Communism they are voting into place now. As things deteriorate, they will still blame it on white males, Christianity, heterosexuality, the Trump era, capitalism itself–anything but the truth. Not because of ideology so much as ignorance, brainwashing from childhood and the complete absence of rational critical thinking to which they were never introduced.
I am grateful not to have children. How horrifying to send your next generation into the hell they’re headed for, a hell made plausible by the election of a totalitarian as New York’s next mayor. It’s horrifying if your kids are clamoring for it–and worse if they aren’t.
