On January 12, 2021, just six days after the January 6 Capitol riot, Dem Rep Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez took to social media to promote censorship:
“You know, I do think that several members of Congress in some of my discussions have brought up media literacy because that is a part of what happened here. And we’re going to have to figure out how we rein in our media environment so that you can’t just spew disinformation and misinformation. It’s one thing to have differing opinions, but it’s another thing entirely to just say things that are false. And so that’s something that we’re looking into.”
When Tucker Carlson was fired from Fox News, AOC again took to social media on April 24, 2023 to gloat:
“Tucker Carlson is out at Fox News. Couldn’t have happened to a better guy… But de-platforming works and it is important and — there you go. Good things can happen.”
