Self-described progressives worship government. Government, to progressives, can do no wrong, must never be challenged, and is responsible for all good things that happen in human life. Good weather, good health, material comfort — all of those things happen because of government. None of them would happen without government. This is the undisputed, barely conscious but thoroughly programmed progressive creed.
The only hitch to the progressive creed that all government is good, and only government can provide goodness? Government MUST be run by progressives. The moment you have a takeover of government by a non-progressive, even a phony one like George W. Bush — why, you’re dealing with Hitler! That’s it. End of story.
The moment you have a takeover of government by a REAL non-progressive, who means everything he says and even (literally) takes bullets for it — well, then, all hell breaks loose. Think of a cult based on the personality of a cult leader, blindly worshipped by followers. Then imagine those followers if the cult leader is replaced by someone who dismantles and challenges everything the cult leader stood for. That’s the state of leftists today — only more insane, and far more dangerous.
