Leftism is based on groupthink, not objective truth and reason. You would never endorse a leftist view like price controls, government control of the economy or “a man is a woman” because of facts or logic. You can only rationalize such insanity with faulty premises such as, “Everyone else thinks so,” or, “That’s what nice, enlightened people think.”
Consequently, the Trump victory creates a terrible internal crisis for the leftist. It’s not just that Trump is the President again. The issue is that a majority chose him. Given the massive fraud, Trump’s margins were likely much bigger, but that’s beside the point. The leftists must absorb a terrible contradiction. On the one side, “I am a virtuous, if not morally superior, person.” On the other side, “A majority rejected my values.” Since leftists form their conclusions on the pseudo strength of their peers, the Trump victory conveys to leftists the truth: that they are (and always were) in the minority. You or I would soldier on and simply continue to stand for what we know is true and right. Leftists cannot do this.
