Politicians are human, just like you or I. The difference? We give them inhuman status. We give them unlimited power. Unlimited money (fiat currency, really — funny money). Unlimited tenure. Pilots have to retire at a certain age. Most brain surgeons willingly do. Not politicians. They go on and on and on. And on. And dozens wait in line behind them, ready to enjoy even MORE unlimited power than we gave the previous generation.
The visible collapse and stammering of our Senators, Presidents and other officials is a metaphor for everything we have done wrong, and for how we lost this republic that Ben Franklin told us (correctly) was ours to keep — or lose.
