“Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself” … Seriously?

“Love thy neighbor as thyself.”

But what if thy neighbor is an idiot? Or worse?

I prefer Ayn Rand’s approach: “Judge, and be prepared to be judged.”

If you’re really honest, you’ll acknowledge that most of us are already doing so.

I cannot love someone I consider bad. I cannot love a stranger. Love divorced from reality, facts and values seems bizarre and impossible to me. And creepy.

If someone does not deserve my help, I would not give it to them. I would argue that it’s LOW to help an undeserving person. Mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent.
