President Donald Trump has been merciless toward Hollywood in recent weeks. After denouncing Tinseltown as “racist” for making “The Hunt,” [a film calling for leftists to hunt down and kill Trump supporters] the president then trashed the Oscars for going downhill in the ratings.
“The Academy Awards is on hard times now,” Trump said. “You know why? Because they started taking us on. Everyone got tired of it. That used to be second after the Super Bowl, and now all of a sudden it’s just another show, because people got tired of people getting up and making fools of themselves and disrespecting the people in this room and the people that won the election in 2016.” [today’s Daily Wire]
He’s right, as usual.
The Oscars, like the movie industry, are mostly propaganda for the Progressive Socialist Entitlement Stupidity State.
The movie industry, as a whole, is filled with smug, self-righteous individuals who THINK they’re morally superior because they claim to hate money (while possessing loads of it). They want to outlaw capitalism while enjoying the benefits this system brings them; and they want to outlaw guns for self-protection, despite the fact many of them have small armies surrounding their homes.
Hypocrisy is too kind a word for these people.
The smug self-righteousness of Hollywood elites comes across to people, and it turns them off, as President Trump states. Not because they’re rich and accomplished; but because they’re morally and psychologically SMALL.
It’s one of the reasons why television/Internet streaming shows — Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu and so forth — are gaining ground. There’s a lot of smugness and propaganda in those industries too, but not quite as much.
Ironically, these Hollywood leftists see themselves as paragons of “diversity”. But to those of us who want something other than a Marxist lecture delivered to us through the movies, these days television has a little bit more variety and diversity to offer. Just a little. And you can access the classics, too.
Donald Trump is not perfect, and he’s not right about everything. But he’s right on target when it comes to the culture. He has read so many millions of us so well when it comes to standing up to the hateful hostility masquerading as “liberal-ness” that describes today’s sycophantic Hollywood. He is SO on the mark.
And millions of us are grateful to him for it.
