Kevin Hart, the Oscars & the Death of Humor in America

Comedian Kevin Hart refused to host the Oscars (at least as of this posting) after politically correct elites demanded he apologize for past jokes about gay people. The jokes are from years ago, and involved mocking himself for fear of his son becoming gay.

We know the drill. Leftists virtue-signalers rush to out-do one another in appearing to be against homophobia. (Where are they when Muslims attack gays in the name of Islam?)

“Take it back,” they scream. What does “take it back” really mean? It can mean only one thing, and the accusers know it: Humiliation.

Kevin Hart’s accusers, like all the others, don’t care if he’s sorry. Even if he got on bended knee and said, “Please, I am so sorry, please, please, please let me host the Oscars and please like me, dear leftists,” they would still not forgive him. It’s not about forgiveness, sensitivity, tolerance or any of the other things they claim. Leftists are fascists at heart, and the least tolerant people on the planet. They want someone who departs from the party line — even once, even a little bit — to be forever humiliated and repentant. Why? Because it enhances their own sense of power over others. It’s call sadism in search of a masochist. It’s the oldest thing there is. Yet it’s paraded as enlightened, “progressive” and  sophisticated.

Hart’s response: “I chose to pass. I passed on the apology,” said Hart in an Instagram video. “The reason why I passed is because I’ve addressed this several times. This is not the first time this has come up. I’ve addressed it. I’ve spoken on it. I’ve said where the rights and wrongs were. I’ve said who I am now versus who I was then. I’ve done it. I’ve done it. I’m not going to continue to go back and tap into the days of old when I moved on. I’m in a completely different space in my life.”

I know nothing about Kevin Hart or his comedy. I enjoy comedy, but tuned it out when it all became totally political, all on the left side of the spectrum. It’s noteworthy that Hart’s fellow comedian Ellen DeGeneres — who’s usually politically correct and is a lesbian herself — stood up for Hart in this instance. I used to love Ellen DeGeneres’ form of humor, but once she started taking up for Obama and all his policies, she totally turned me off. Even she has her limits, it seems. Leftism has reached the stage of full totalitarianism. It really has. Psychologically, it’s already there. That’s what fascist dictators do: They seek to eradicate all dissension first through humiliation and next through making dissension illegal. The psychological context has to be established first.

In Hollywood, it’s already there.

I expect Kevin Hart is a good Democrat who hates President Trump, just like all the others. But even he cannot be permitted to host the Oscars if at one time he made even one joke that might have offended just one gay or lesbian person somewhere, even though many probably laughed at his jokes.

The death of humor is an important milestone in the establishment of a dictatorship. You may insist it cannot happen in America. Psychologically and socially, it already has. The rest will only be a matter of time, unless masses of people fight back and stand up to it.
