Today President Trump tweeted:

The Democrats will never make a deal with President Trump. Not on a border wall, and not on anything.
The Democrats are steadfastly wrong. They are wrong about virtually everything — but they are unyielding about it. They stand firm in their wrongness.
They don’t have to make deals. Their constituents — the very people who gave them control of half of Congress — maintain that President Trump is evil. The mere act of doing business with President Trump, according to them, is evil.
Even doing business with President Trump on something they agree with him on — if it existed — would be evil, according to most Democrats.
After two years, many still don’t grasp how the election of Donald Trump meant that America would never again be the same. Just as Trump supporters said “enough is enough” with the political Swamp of government-business partnership, Democratic supporters are now saying, “Enough is enough on compromising with Republicans and conservatives.” Their narrative? Obama was too soft, too compromising, so now the Democrats must double down and become even more unyielding. Of course, Obama and company never once yielded or gave a single inch to Republicans. It was always the other way around. That’s why so many Republicans turned to Trump in the first place.
You have to understand: Democrats are an entitled bunch. They don’t merely feel entitled to free college, free health care, free cell phones, free child care, free disability/retirement, and the contents of other people’s bank accounts. They don’t only feel entitled to the spoils of power. They feel entitled to power itself. They feel entitled to rule almost as a divine right. How dare anyone take this away from them, even for a mere four-year term!
The Democratic mentality is not “democratic”. It’s not republican or Constitutional, either. It’s thuggery. Match my assertion against the facts, and you’ll see exactly what I mean.
This has been building for a long time. I saw it long before Donald Trump ever ran for President. During the Obama years, particularly, it became clear that Democrats no longer felt the obligation to compromise with any of their lessers — defined as people who disagree with them.
America, I’m sad to say, is now ungovernable. The prolonged “government shutdown” merely illustrates it. If President Trump has any backbone — and most of his actions to date suggest he does — then this government shutdown standoff could go on for a long time. It might even go on to the next election. Get ready.
One thing is for sure. Democrats will never back down. You have to understand the nature and the magnitude of their irrational, unyielding entitlement mentality in order to feel confident about this fact, as I do.
We are in for a long standoff — and, yes, a civil war of a certain kind — in this country. It’s already happening. The real issue is not the border wall, although that’s not an insignificant issue. The real issue is whether the Americans who still love their country, and who still love the Constitution — including the Bill of Rights — are willing to stand up to the totalitarian mentality of the bullying, unyielding Democratic leftists. Because they will never back down.
President Trump’s tenure in office may be our last chance.
