The FBI raided President Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen’s home, office and hotel room Monday to seize a collection of documents — a development that Trump slammed as “a disgrace.”
Federal agents reportedly obtained documents related to several issues, including his payments to adult-film star Stormy Daniels in the weeks leading up to the 2016 presidential election. The New York Times was first to report the raid.
“Today the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York executed a series of search warrants and seized the privileged communications between my client, Michael Cohen, and his clients,” Cohen’s attorney Stephen Ryan said in a statement Monday. “I have been advised by federal prosecutors that the New York action is, in part, a referral by the Office of Special Counsel, Robert Mueller.”
Trump lashed out Monday evening from the White House, calling Mueller’s investigation “a total witch hunt” and “an attack on our country, in a true sense.”
It’s the politicization of justice in America.
America’s system of justice used to be based on objective standards. Evidence and proof were required to convict a party suspected of guilt. With President Trump, it’s different. All that’s required is something — “something, anything” — to get the man and bring him down. It’s not about proof, facts, logic or evidence. It’s about what works. Mueller and his goons are acting in desperation. Why? Because they’re desperate. When you don’t have reason, facts and logic on your side, you don’t have the rule of law, either. They know it, and it’s why they’re acting so irrationally.
Trump supporters say he cannot fire Mueller, because it will “look like” he’s obstructing justice. But in reality, it’s Robert Mueller and his Democratic, anti-Trump cohorts who are looking for “something, anything” in a desperate attempt to bring down the President.
Firing Mueller would neither “look like” nor in actual fact be obstruction of justice. Actually, sitting by and letting him continue his high-level gamesmanship in bringing down a legitimately elected U.S. President is the actual travesty of justice.
Based on his remarks today, I suspect President Trump knows this and may act accordingly in the near future.
“Witch hunt” is no longer the proper term to describe what’s going on. It’s open dishonesty and brazen injustice — all in the name of the American system of law, which is supposed to be based on objective justice.
Democrats and other anti-Trumpers sneer and jeer with delight over the latest attempt by Mueller and company to quite literally stage a coup in the United States of America. But it’s a classic case of “careful what you wish for”. If the goons running the parasitical D.C. Swamp, the narcissistic media and the sinister Deep State Obama holdovers get their way, what will they have accomplished? The roar of anger that resulted in Donald Trump getting nominated and later elected in 2016 will be nothing compared to what’s coming if they bring down a duly elected President.
I know plenty of Republicans and independents who are ambivalent about President Trump. But they feel no such uncertainty when it comes to allowing the media and a self-evidently corrupt FBI determine the fate of the nation and its citizens.
It’s not about Donald Trump anymore. It’s about democracy and the remnants of Constitutional, individual rights in America. If Trump goes, the rest of America goes with him.
And it’s not going to be pretty if it happens.
