Antifa Terrorists Do the Anti-Free Speech Dirty Work for Regular Democrats

Michael Isaacson, an economics professor at Manhattan’s John Jay College of Criminal Justice, has been placed on administrative leave for a tweet he sent on August 23. In it, he appeared to suggest that violence against cops was simply a fact of life.

“Some of y’all might think it sucks being an anti-fascist teaching at John Jay College but I think it’s a privilege to teach future dead cops,” he wrote at the time.

Unlucky for Isaacson, who is also a leader of the Antifa movement, police union officials saw the tweet, followed by school officials.

John Jay President Karol Mason responded swiftly, knowing exactly what to do.

“Today, members of the John Jay faculty received threats, and our students expressed concerns for their safety in the classroom,” Mason said. “Out of concern for the safety of our students, faculty and staff, we are immediately placing the adjunct on administrative leave as we continue to review this matter.”

After his suspension, Isaacson offered a non-apology, before making a sarcastic comment about his right to “free speech.”

Amazing.  People who claim conservatives should not be permitted to speak because it offends others, or hurts their feelings, insist, “You can’t shout fire in a crowded theater”. Yet when an Antifa leader is held responsible because he threatened the lives of police officers, it somehow violates his freedom of speech.

Naïve people have to understand that Antifa leftists –and, if you ask me, most leftists—are not interested in freedom of speech at all. They are interested in coercion, tyranny and dictatorship, with themselves as the ones in charge.

That’s why when a glorified thug like this “professor” claims freedom of speech as a virtue and value, he’s really talking about unlimited freedom of speech for himself.

That’s what the Antifa movement is all about. Yet based on the Obama years (e.g., silencing Tea Party through the IRS, asking citizens to report to the federal government anyone criticizing Obamacare legislation, etc.) and the actions of progressives and leftists since, that’s really what all of leftism is about: Unlimited freedom of speech for those with progressive, socialist leftist views. And unlimited restrictions on speech for those with opposing or dissenting views.

Their trick is crude and simple: Label anyone who disagrees with them as fascist and totalitarian — all the while acting, speaking and thinking as totalitarian fascists themselves. Antifa radical terrorists do so openly. But how many socialist or leftist Democrats are really doing anything to oppose them? Antifa does their dirty work for them.

When Antifa and other leftist types speak of “free speech” they only mean one thing: the ability to speak and act without any restraint or consequences, including when they threaten the lives of others.

That’s not freedom of speech. It’s not freedom at all. We let these thugs get away with it at our own peril. We’ve got to stand up to these bullies now, before they get their hands on more power and use it to silence dissension completely.
