Anti-Gay Muslims Throw Hot Coffee on P.C. Starbucks

Muslim groups in Malaysia and Indonesia have called for a boycott of Starbucks because of the coffee chain’s support for LGBT rights.

Malaysian group Perkasa, which supports a hard-line form of Islam and nationalism, this week called on its more than 500,000 members to stay away from Starbucks coffee shops. This week and last, leaders of Indonesia’s second largest mainstream Muslim group, Muhammadiyah, with an estimated 29 million members, denounced the chain.

The groups were apparently reacting to comments made several years ago by former CEO Howard Schultz in support of gay rights that drew renewed attention amid an increasingly anti-LGBT climate in both of the predominantly Muslim countries.

Perkasa said in a statement that the Malaysian government should revoke the trading license given to Starbucks and other companies such as Microsoft and Apple that support LGBT rights and same-sex marriage.

Now how funny is this?

Starbucks bends over backwards to be politically correct. In the United States, this still means backing gay marriage. But being politically correct also means never criticizing Islam — not ever, not about anything — and upholding all Muslims no matter what.

It’s an obvious collision that anyone could have foreseen. But P.C. knows no logic. It’s almost as if there’s some hidden-away place where authorities wiser than us all decide who the victim groups are, and are not. The P.C. authorities have deemed gays and lesbians as victims, no matter what (so long as they remain leftist Democrat progressives, of course). And those same unseen P.C. authorities have deemed all Muslims as victims, no matter what. BAM!!

I don’t agree with Muslims on gay marriage or anything at all. But in a bizarre way, I cheer these fundamentalist Muslims for throwing hot coffee on the idiots who run Starbucks. It’s another reminder that if the people running this chain stuck to what they know and do best — making coffee — we’d all be a lot better off. They certainly would be.

Gay rights and Islam do not mix. More broadly, individual rights and things like the separation of church and state do not mix with Islam, either. It’s not lovers of liberty trying to stop Muslims from being Muslims. It’s certain Muslims trying to stop non-Muslims from living their lives as infidels. And remember that according to Islam, it’s not just gays and lesbians who are infidels. It’s 99.99 percent of the semi-sane population who must not only be condemned, but destroyed. Gay marriage is the least of it.

The smugness of politically correct, self-conscious leftist corporatists like Starbucks cannot withstand a logical contradiction and an evasion of this magnitude, not forever. Muslims know exactly what they’re doing and why they’re doing it. On their assumptions, they are upright, consistent, unblinking and unflinching. Until the rest of us become the same way, we’re going to continue losing the war to keep Western civilization standing.
