Jesse Arreguin, mayor of Berkeley, California, has been revealed to be involved with a violent, far-left group known as “BAMN,” meaning “By Any Means Necessary.”
Indeed, Arreguin’s Facebook page shows him belonging to BAMN, according to The Gateway Pundit.
The group formally describes itself on Facebook as “The Coalition to Defend Affirmative Action, Integration & Immigrant Rights, and Fight for Equality By Any Means Necessary (BAMN).”
BAMN is not just any “liberal” or “leftist” group. It is a group whose members have engaged in violence, and is affiliated with the violent antifascist, or antifa, movement. [See also here]
Leftist progressivism has gone full Communist. It’s not just in Berkeley. It’s all over the left-wing progressive movement. A Muslim Brotherhood supporter, Keith Ellison, is second in command of the Democratic party apparatus. Communists ally themselves with anyone who seeks to destroy liberty and individualism, and Islam is obviously at the forefront of such a quest.
Many Democrats now openly call for restraints on freedom of speech whenever that speech is deemed “hateful,” which always means critical of their party’s policies and priorities. “You don’t agree with me? You’re a racist. Racism is hate speech. Why should hate speech be legal?”
University professors at federally funded institutions (like Berkeley) openly call for Donald Trump’s execution and even the execution of those who voted for and supported him. Anyone who’s non-leftist literally risks his or her life by stepping foot onto a campus to support Trump or question anything leftist. Did you ever think it would come to this point in the United States? It’s like we’re living in a dictatorship already, and our government continues to provide the tax dollars to make sure these sociopathic freaks posing as intellectuals get to speak their demented, hate-ridden minds.
In Obama’s terms of office, progressives used underground activity in the IRS and warped interpretations of vague campaign finance laws to justify thwarting the speech of dissidents. My, how timid those strategies seem now. After Trump’s victory, you will not find such sneakiness or underhandedness again. Democrats have discovered their inner totalitarians, and people like the mayor of Berkeley will now lead the way.
Donald Trump, and people who voted for him, will get the blame for everything, including from career politician Republican hacks who have enabled these progressive Marxists-in-waiting all these years. It’s important to understand: leftist progressivism had to reach its openly violent stage sooner or later. Trump merely provided the excuse for bringing on the inevitable. Why inevitable? Leftist progressivism, like its intellectual ancestor Marxism, is based on brute force. “From each according to his ability and to each according to his need.” That’s the basis of everything from Obamacare to “progressive” taxation to the unending redistribution of wealth resulting in what has come to be known as the D.C. Swamp. This credo is not an opinion. It’s not merely a moral imperative. It’s a political one as well. That means force. Democrats, like Communists, were always all about force, coercion and compulsion. That’s why it had to come to this.
People will not willingly give up what belongs to them. If you make a thousand, a million or a billion dollars on a free market, you’re not going to give it away to self-appointed thugs, pin-headed twerps or morally self-assured do-gooders who purport to know better than you what to do with the money. Even progressives do not like to give up their money. Look how many rich and wealthy progressive socialists there are. They merely feel more entitled to it than most, because they feel like they’re much more virtuous than people who are not progressives. Sooner or later, if you’re really a progressive and socialist thinker, you have to sweep aside the pretense and simply do what needs to be done, at least if you subscribe to this point-of-view: double down on compulsion. The mayor of Berkeley, while on the far-left wing of the party, roars the deepest impulses and articulates what has animated the progressive movement for the last century in the United States. Just as you’ll almost never find “moderate” Muslims that speak out forcefully against terrorism done in Islam’s name, you’ll almost never find “moderate” Democrats that condemn people who increasingly promote hate, intolerance and outright violence against anyone who disagrees with them.
Let’s be real. Donald Trump is no consistent proponent of capitalism, free markets, private property and individual rights. People like me wish that he was, but we always knew that he’s not. Yet politically, right now, he’s the greatest (and only) force standing in the way of the complete and consistent implementation of economic wealth redistribution Democrats and progressives had hoped to fully consolidate in Hillary Clinton’s presidency. Trump’s victory showed them that dissenting opinion, from a variety of points-of-view, is alive and well. They cannot and will not let that stand. If they have to shut people up or even shoot them, so be it. With Trump in the White House, that’s a bit difficult at the moment. But Donald Trump will not always be in the White House. Republicans — pitiful as most of them are — will not always control Congress. What do you think will happen then?
Because Americans will not rationally and willingly go into totalitarianism of their own free will — nor should they — it stands to reason that, sooner or later, the advocates of socialism have to take control of the most basic rights of all. This is why the left has gone bonkers. It’s not really bonkers. It’s logically consistent with the basic premises of socialism. Leftism and progressivism are all about command-and-control, force and compulsion. They always were. That’s why it had to get to this point.
