Even Roseanne Barr gets it.
Actress and comedian Roseanne Barr excoriated President Obama on Twitter for abstaining from a UN Security Council vote that passed on Friday demanding a halt in Israeli construction in the West Bank and eastern Jerusalem and referring to those lands as “Palestinian territories.”
Barr compared Obama’s abstention, which allowed the anti-Israel resolution to pass, with “Nazis” who “enacted anti-Jewish laws on the eve of Jewish holidays-exactly as @POTUS has done on eve of Hanukkah.”
Let’s face it: For all practical purposes, Obama is a Muslim. Throughout his presidency, his actions closely resembled those of anyone who was on the side of Jihad, the Islamic “holy war” against all things Western. His Christmas present to Israel is just another parting shot.
Israel’s right to exist does not rest on any real or alleged Biblical claim. Israel’s right to exist rests on the objective fact that its government respects the rights of individuals more consistently than the brutal gangs, kings and thugs who otherwise run that part of the world. Israel is not perfect. But it’s a shining beacon of Jeffersonian republicanism when compared to the savagery dominating the religiously totalitarian hellholes that surround Israel.
If Muslims actually developed a nation-state which protected the separation of church and state and upheld economic freedom even more consistently than Israel, they would enjoy the moral high ground. Because that’s how you settle these matters: The government who does the best job (or least awful job) of protecting the individual’s right to liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness wins. That should be the standard to which the United States and the U.N. adhere when taking positions. Instead, Obama takes precisely the opposite stance. It’s beyond shameful.
Israel will re-assess its ties with the United Nations following the adoption by the Security Council of a resolution demanding an end to Israeli settlement building, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Saturday.
The vote was able to pass the 15-member council on Friday because the United States broke with a long-standing approach of diplomatically shielding Israel and did not wield its veto power as it had on many times before — a decision that Netanyahu called “shameful.”
“I instructed the Foreign Ministry to complete within a month a re-evaluation of all our contacts with the United Nations, including the Israeli funding of U.N. institutions and the presence of U.N. representatives in Israel,” Netanyahu said in broadcast remarks.
“I have already instructed to stop about 30 million shekels ($7.8 million) in funding to five U.N. institutions, five bodies, that are especially hostile to Israel … and there is more to come,” he said.
This should be the end of the U.N. — not just for Israel, but for the United States as well. It’s a dysfunctional and embarrassing organization, one that does nothing to advance world peace. Why? Because it does nothing to advance the cause of individual rights and freedom. The inherent evil of the U.N. resides in the fact that it treats all nations and governments as if they’re morally equal. Comparatively free countries like Israel and the United States are given the same moral status as brutal dictatorships in Africa, the Middle East as well as Russia and China. It’s insane and unjust.
For the first time in its history, the United States twice elected a President who openly questions the idea that freedom, and therefore the United States, has the moral high ground. On their best days, Obama and his team have acted and spoken as if the United States is morally equal to other nations that show no respect whatsoever for the rights of the individual. On their worst days, like this one, they have openly sided with the bad guys against the United States and Israel, precisely because they are the freest countries, and therefore the superior places to live. Obama feels sorry for the worse off countries, even though they’ve brought their pain on themselves with their choices to eschew economic and political freedom.
Unlike his Nazi predecessors, Obama doesn’t even have the nerve to openly state his convictions. Instead, he passively and aggressively withholds support from the good guys, knowing full well it will advance the interests of the bad guys, which includes the intensifying Jihad against those of us who do not share Obama’s cultural or religious convictions about Islam.
Post-Obama, the Democratic Party can expect to move further in this direction, as its serious consideration of a Muslim Brotherhood supporter for party chair suggests. If there are any Jews left willing to support the Democratic Party, it’s beyond comprehension as to why. Islamic radicals, the ones who will benefit the most from Obama and the U.N.’s policies, are the greatest threat to the individual rights of Jews, as well as the individual rights of everyone. It’s the worst threat since the Nazi era itself.
If Donald Trump wants to do the right thing, he should immediately withdraw all financial support by the United States from the U.N. This will end the U.N. right there. Good riddance. Sell the U.N. building and let developers turn them into condos.
