Islam and P.C.: No Evidence Need Apply

A Somali-born Ohio State University student plowed his car into a group of pedestrians on campus and then got out and began stabbing people with a butcher knife Monday before he was shot to death by a police officer. Police said they are investigating whether it was a terrorist attack. Eleven people were hurt, one critically.

The attacker was identified as Abdul Razak Ali Artan. He was born in Somalia and was a legal permanent U.S. resident, according to a U.S. official who wasn’t authorized to discuss the case and spoke on condition of anonymity. The FBI joined the investigation.

The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee says the attack at Ohio State “bears all of the hallmarks of a terror attack carried out by someone who may have been self-radicalized.”

Political correctness tells us guns are the major cause of terrorism. But this attack shows how advocates of Islam who wish to kill infidels don’t need guns to create mayhem. They will gladly use knives, cars or anything at all to make their barbaric points, again and again.

Political correctness also tells us that immigrants do not commit crimes, particularly not acts of terrorism. Yet this latest Islam-inspired attack shows that the United States is, in fact, importing terrorism into its own country. Reasonable people can debate how to handle this problem, but political correctness defies reason. It chills, represses, shames and dares, but P.C. defies reason.

In August, Ohio State’s student newspaper, The Lantern, ran an interview with Artan, who identified himself as a Muslim and a third-year logistics management student who had just transferred from Columbus State Community College in the fall.

He said he was looking for a place to pray openly and worried about how he would be received.
Now why would anybody receive him poorly? After all, it’s not like his religion perpetuates violence or anything, right?

“I’m a Muslim, it’s not what the media portrays me to be. If people look at me, a Muslim praying, I don’t know what they’re going to think, what’s going to happen,” the future killer stated in a school profile of him.

So your way of coping is to brutally attack innocent people, Mr. Abdul Razak Ali Artan? Poor baby!

Political correctness does not permit us to say any of these things, especially on P.C. university campuses. When it comes to P.C. and Islam particularly, the intellectual policy is: No evidence need apply. Yet objective reality has a way of continuing to assert itself, no matter what the repressors, deniers, Pollyannas or apologists for Islam continue to insist.

The good news is that this latest madman for Allah was killed by the police. Thank goodness for police, who do these things again and again and again. It’s not P.C. to praise police either, not ever. But without their courageous and confident efforts, we’d all be mowed down by violent thugs, the P.C. as much as everyone else.

Trump voters: Brace yourselves. You will get the personal blame for all Islam-inspired attacks going forward. It’s called blaming the victim and shooting the messenger. You’ll get the blame for creating a climate of fear by voting for Donald Trump, who merely states the obvious: terrorist attacks are caused by rabid adherence to Islam. The shooters will never get the blame for anything.

Speaking to CNN on Monday, one witness claimed the attacker was “completely silent” as he stabbed innocent people. The witness said Artan remained silent, “even when he was shot.” It’s called faith. He’s sure he’ll be rewarded for his service — in eternity. It’s what his religion taught him. This is what we’re up against: the kind of calmness displayed in a moment like that, the calmness of a delusional madman. It seems that Islam produces a lot of these types.

One thing’s for certain. P.C. cannot alter reality. Facts are facts, and the reality of Islam’s brutality will continue to assert itself again and again, until we face and name the truth. Terrorists are frightened little creatures. The only thing empowering them is our own unearned guilt and fear. Challenge these things, and we’ll have won Islam’s war against freedom and civility … and the rest will be easy.
