Trump Is Right: Media Establishment is Rigged

Donald Trump would rather not have a moderator in his upcoming debates with Hillary Clinton, because he thinks he’ll be treated “very, very unfairly” after his questioning by NBC’s Matt Lauer during last week’s presidential forum.

“Let Hillary and I sit there and just debate, because I think the system is being rigged,” the GOP presidential nominee told CNBC’s “Squawk Box” program Monday. “It’s going to be a very unfair debate, and I can see it happening right now because everyone’s saying that he was soft on Trump.

“Well, now the new person’s going to try to be really hard on Trump just to show the establishment what he can do. So I think it’s very unfair what they’re doing.”

Trump is right. It’s not a conspiracy. It’s simply the arrogance and overwhelming political bias of 90-plus percent of the media.

Nearly anyone who would be “moderating” a debate between Hillary Clinton and any non-Democrat wants Hillary Clinton to look good and the Republican to look bad. Trump’s sin, in the eyes of such biased media figures, is not his positions so much as the fact that he comes across in a confident, defiant way. They are not used to this, and they cannot stand this. Especially now that Hillary Clinton is obviously ill (with “pneumonia,” her censoring friends in the media tell us), they will be protective of her in a way probably never seen before in presidential campaign history. Trump is hard, and it’s a good thing he is, because the pushback from the media in the midst of a growing crisis with their candidate will reflect a panic and a fury like nothing you have ever seen.

For decades, many of us have been waiting for a presidential debate where the two candidates stand side-by-side and simply debate the issues. If they are unable or unwilling to do so in a civilized way, then that should prove right there that he or she is unfit to be president. Here we’re willing to trust this person with a finger on the button and massive control over major sectors of defense and the economy, but we can’t trust either of them to hold a rational, intelligent debate without the NBC-CNN-CBS-FOX equivalent of an almost-always Democratically biased schoolmarm to interfere and keep them in line?

I don’t imagine Trump will get his wish. He’s very pushy and aggressive. If anyone can get us a real debate, he probably can. But the forces against any challenge to the likes of Hillary Clinton–who might even win if she’s on her deathbed–are overwhelming. I think this is why so many root for Trump, even if they don’t love him personally or agree with all of his positions.

The establishment media acts like the state controlled media in a Communist or Nazi country. The disgraceful aspect is they’re not doing this because of force or intimidation by the government; they’re doing this because they want to, because they are overtly and unapologetically biased in favor of all things Establishment, leftist, progressive, socialist, and all the rest. Good for Trump for standing up to them. They’re nothing more than a bunch of air-headed bullies, and it’s time somebody barked back at them. I don’t know what good it will do for Trump’s campaign, or for the minority of Americans who still seem to value freedom of speech and rational standards of integrity and truth. That remains to be seen, because our government and political system are more rotten, more rigged and perhaps more beyond redemption than any of us yet wish to face.

But by fighting back, at least we can go down fighting, if we have to go down at all. And if and when Americans choose to wake up and stop listening to the intellectually challenged and philosophically vacant men and women who dominate most of the media and its attendant bias, America might have a fighting chance again.
