Happiness: Not Just for Holidays

The purpose of a holiday is not to be rational and kind to yourself, and your loved ones, while not being this way the rest of the time. Happiness is not, or should not be, reserved for holidays. I view Christmas with mixed emotions. On the one hand, I love to see people who celebrate Christmas be happy and content. On the other hand, I hate to think that this is simply a pocket of time when people put aside all the foolish ideas (well-documented at this web site) which make them depressed and unhappy the rest of the year. I view a holiday as a time to take a break and celebrate. It’s the icing or decoration on the cake, not the cake itself.

I wish all of my readers a happy holiday … and an even happier post-holiday.
