Government Run Speech

This is Obama’s rationalization for subsidizing and bailing out failing newspapers, who are being hurt by competition on the Internet.
Obama said, “I am concerned that if the direction of the news is all blogosphere, all opinions, with no serious fact-checking, no serious attempts to put stories in context, that what you will end up getting is people shouting at each other across the void but not a lot of mutual understanding.”

In other words: Once government money and control are involved, you can count on serious fact-checking, no bias, no lying and no agendas. You know, just like in Soviet Russia, Communist China, totalitarian Iran and North Korea … places like that.

This man is supposed to be smart — really smart. In reality, he’s just a plain old dictator-in-waiting. He does understand one thing. Government — his government, that is — must get its hands on media. Start with failing newspapers, to provide competition for hated dissent on the Internet, and elsewhere. From there,
you can more easily justify subsidizing and controlling everyone else.

Government will never be able to control man’s mind. But our government — in the United States of America, of all places — is readying itself to control man’s voice and speech. Keep your ideas to yourselves, they’re telling us — unless they’re in support of the government, of course.
