Not all physicians are satisfied with the socialized medicine bill going through Congress.
“This is war,” Dr. George Watson, a Kansas physician and president-elect of the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons, told FOXNews.com Thursday. “This is a bureaucratic boondoggle to grab control of health care. Everything that has been proposed in the 1,018 page bill will contribute to the ruination of medicine.” He blasted the bill as “insidious” by forcing doctors contracted with Medicare into the nationalized plan — a “trap” he described as “involuntary servitude.”
It’s heartening to see at least one physician speak out on moral principle. Socialized medicine IS involuntary servitude for doctors, nurses, surgeons and all affected health care professionals. It treats their lives, efforts and capacities as pieces of meat to be divided as politicians see fit. Politicians are not in the business of medicine, by the way. They are in the business of acquiring and keeping power, through pleasing core groups of people (often dishonestly). Politics is kind of like the Mafia, only with jails and guns–rather than merely guns. Are these the caliber of people you want drafting your doctor into service, allegedly for your sake as a patient?
