Complain, Complain

If you think about it, complaining usually makes no sense. To “complain” means to repeatedly state a fact that something is negative. But if you can do something to alter that negative fact, there’s no point talking about it–simply change it. If you cannot do anything to alter the negative fact, then complaining will do nothing to change it. Some people complain merely to vent–as a prelude to finding solutions. Some people are genuinely grieving a loss. These are valid things to do. However, some people complain because they want to bring others down with them. Others complain because they want others to see them as victims, to pretend along with them that they cannot change something that they actually can change.
