The Greedy Politicians Who Destroyed America

Sen. Tom Coburn: “The root of the problem is political greed in Congress. Members … from both parties wanted short-term political credit for promoting homeownership even though they were putting our entire economy at risk by encouraging people to buy homes they couldn’t afford. Then, instead of conducting thorough oversight and correcting obvious problems with unstable entities like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, members of Congress chose to … distract themselves with unprecedented amounts of pork-barrel spending.”

Bravo! What is the nature of the greed of these politicians? It’s a greed to appear compassionate while spending other people’s money and squandering other people’s efforts–only to, in the end, hurt everybody and still pretend that it’s somebody else’s fault. These politicians are no different from the worst of those whom they represent: Those who demand the unearned as an entitlement, via armed coercion disguised as political civility, and then attribute the subsequent downfall of morality to others.
