Think Your Way to Reality

How you think about something does not change reality. But it does
change the way you interact with, and act in, reality. This will often
lead to real-life consequences. For example, you hear about “the
self-fulfilling prophecy.” This is not magic or mysticism. This is what
happens when you expect negative things. If you expect negative things
to happen, you will only notice–or ascribe importance–to the
unpleasant and the negative. Not only will this drive pleasant and
positive people away; it will also lead you to tolerate and even
(perversely) embrace the negative–since this is “all there is.” Your
outlook matters.
